Every server, switch, and storage unit is labeled, photographed, and logged before it is de-racked, so the exact physical and logical configuration can be reproduced at the destination without guesswork. Cabling is documented port-to-port, and asset tags are cross-referenced against your inventory before anything leaves the source facility.

At the destination, our team re-racks and re-cables to the documented configuration, verifying power draw and physical placement against the destination facility layout before handoff. Where elevation changes or new rack units are involved, we coordinate weight distribution and airflow planning with the facility team in advance.

The result is a rack-by-rack chain of custody: what left the source facility is exactly what arrives and is re-installed at the destination, with documentation to prove it.

Cutting over network connectivity between facilities or colocation providers is where most relocation risk lives — a missed IP reservation, an undocumented VLAN, or an out-of-sequence circuit cutover can take down services well after the physical move is complete. We map circuits, IP ranges, VLANs, and peering relationships ahead of the move, and build a cutover runbook with a defined maintenance window and rollback plan.

Coordination with your carriers and colocation provider is handled directly by our team, so circuit turn-ups, cross-connects, and BGP changes are scheduled to match the physical move rather than trailing behind it.

We validate connectivity at each stage — before decommissioning the old path, during the parallel-run window, and after cutover — so network engineers can confirm the new environment is fully reachable before the old path is torn down.

Sensitive and regulated hardware — servers holding protected data, cryptographic modules, or compliance-scoped storage — requires a documented chain of custody from the moment it is de-racked to the moment it is re-installed. Every asset is logged, sealed, and tracked in transit, with GPS-tracked, exclusive-use vehicles so shipments are never co-loaded with other freight.

Insurance coverage and handling procedures are documented up front, and transport crews follow defined procedures for sealing, loading, and verifying custody at each handoff point.

For clients operating under HIPAA-aware handling requirements or SOC 2-aligned processes, our documentation is structured to support your own compliance evidence — chain-of-custody logs, handling records, and delivery confirmation are provided as part of the engagement.

Retiring infrastructure carries its own risk profile — data-bearing drives and media need documented disposition, and asset teardown needs to be sequenced so it does not disrupt systems still in production nearby. We plan decommissioning as a structured project: inventory, data destruction or migration, physical teardown, and disposition, each with its own record.

Media handling follows a documented chain of custody through destruction or certified data sanitization, with disposition records provided at completion so retired assets can be accounted for in your own audit trail.
