How Our Equipment Buy Back Program Cuts the Cost of Your Data Center Move
Our buy back program pays you for the equipment you are not taking with you, in cash or as a credit toward your move.
Almost every data center relocation turns up hardware that is not worth moving. Servers are due for a refresh. Storage is being replaced. Switches have reached the end of their life. Racks are no longer needed.
That equipment creates a problem on move day. You either pay to pack, ship and re-install gear you are about to retire, or you find someone else to haul it away. Both cost money and time. Buy back gives you a third option: sell it to us, and take the value as cash or as money off your move.
What we buy
We buy three kinds of equipment.
- Servers and storage: rack and blade servers, storage arrays and shelves
- Network gear: switches, routers and firewalls
- Racks, UPS and power: cabinets, PDUs and UPS units
Offers depend on age, configuration, condition and current resale demand. Not every item will have buy back value, and we will tell you which ones do before you commit to anything.
How it works
Buy back runs inside your relocation project, in four steps.
- Send us your list. Tell us what you are retiring: make, model, configuration, quantity and condition. Photos help.
- We review it and make an offer. You see what each item is worth before you decide.
- You accept and choose how to be paid. Take the value as cash, or apply it as a credit toward the cost of your relocation.
- We remove the equipment with the move. Same crew, same project, same schedule.
For the full move sequence, see our post on relocation procedures and lead times.

Five ways buy back benefits you
1. You get paid, in cash or credit
Take the value as cash, or apply it as a credit that reduces what you pay for the relocation. Either way, equipment that was a disposal problem becomes money back in your budget.
2. You stop paying to move gear you are about to retire
Every rack you ship has to be packed, loaded, transported, unloaded and re-installed. Doing all that for a server you plan to decommission in six months is money spent twice.
3. The move itself gets smaller
Fewer racks means less packing, less truck space and less work at the destination. A smaller move is easier to schedule and easier to fit inside a tight outage window.
4. One team handles everything leaving the building
You do not need a mover for the equipment you keep and a separate buyer or hauler for the rest. There is one team, one schedule and one chain of custody. That also means one set of records when your auditors ask where an asset went.
5. Your old site empties sooner
Retired equipment leaves on the same schedule as the move, not weeks later. When a lease is ending, that can be the difference between handing back the space on time and paying for another month.
Your data stays under your control
Retired servers and storage often still hold drives. Before any buy back equipment leaves your building, we agree with you on how data-bearing drives will be handled under your security policy. That agreement is written into the runbook, so it is part of the plan and not an afterthought.
Who gets the most out of it
Buy back pays off most when a move and a hardware decision land at the same time.
- You are refreshing hardware around the move. New servers go into the new site, and the old ones never need to travel.
- You are consolidating or downsizing. Two rooms become one, or part of the load moves to cloud or colocation, and racks are left over.
- Your lease is ending. The space has to be empty by a fixed date, and nothing can be left behind.
- You are closing a site. Everything has to go, and only some of it is worth relocating.
Frequently asked questions
Will you buy everything on my list?
Not always. Offers depend on age, configuration, condition and current resale demand, so some items will have no buy back value. We tell you which is which in the offer.
What do you need to make a buy back offer?
A list of what you are retiring, with make, model, configuration, quantity and condition. Photos help us price it accurately.
How do I get paid for buy back equipment?
You choose. We can pay you cash, or apply the value as a credit toward the cost of your relocation.
What happens to the data on my old drives?
We agree on that with you before anything leaves your building. Drive handling follows your security policy and is written into the runbook.
Does buy back delay the move?
No. Buy back equipment is removed as part of the same project, on the same schedule as the move.
